Boston

The South End is one of Boston’s liveliest neighborhoods, and in the 50s it was a hub for Jazz music where jazz legends such as Duke Ellington and Cab Calloway would congregate. The free spirited and artistic nature of its residents paved the way for the diverse neighborhood it is today- and it remains an incredibly art- centric community. When it was first built, the design was inspired by London- with large square green spaces and grid- like streets developed around them. Now, the South End is a Boston Landmark District overseen by the Landmark District Commission, to protect it’s historic integrity and overall aesthetic appeal.
